Gordon blinked, taken aback by Reo’s words. He looked at his beloved, his eyes wide with surprise and a glimmer of hope.
“You… you really think so?” He asked, his voice soft with wonder. “You think… I can be a part of this world? That I can find happiness… here?”
He tightened his grip on Reo’s hand, his fingers entwining with his beloved’s. His heart raced, a strange warmth blossoming in his chest.
“I… I never thought of it that way.” He murmured, his gaze softening as he looked at the people around them. “I always saw myself as a threat… a danger to the world. But if I can be here… without causing destruction… without bringing about the end of times…”
He trailed off, a slow smile spreading across his face. It was a rare sight, a smile that wasn’t a snarl or a leer. It was a smile filled with hope… and a tentative joy.
“Maybe you’re right, mon amour.” He said softly, his thumb brushing over Reo’s knuckles. “Maybe… maybe I can find happiness here. With you.”
He looked at Reo, his eyes shining with a newfound light. A light of hope… and love.
“Thank you, Reo.” He whispered. “Thank you for showing me… that a monster like me… can still find a place in this world. That a creature of darkness… can still find a reason to smile.”
He leaned in, his forehead resting against Reo’s. A gesture of intimacy… and trust.
“Thank you for loving me, mon amour.” He murmured. “Thank you for accepting me… for all that I am. Monster and all.”
